Opportunity · Friendship · Belonging

HER Brandon helps women new in Brandon build meaningful friendships, professional connections and economic opportunities.

Why HER Brandon

Settled doesn’t always mean connected.

Moving to a new country can mean leaving behind much more than a home.

Women may leave behind friends, colleagues, professional networks, extended family, familiar communities and years of relationships.

A woman can have a home, documentation and the essentials of settlement — and still feel economically disconnected or socially alone.

She may be asking:

Where do I meet women like me?
How do I rebuild my professional network?
Who can I call for coffee?
How do people find opportunities here?
How do I turn what I know into something valuable in Canada?
Where do I belong?
HER Brandon exists for the space between arriving and truly belonging.
Two ways we help

Opportunity and friendship, together.

Economic Inclusion

HER Opportunity

People should know what you can do.

Women who are new in Brandon often arrive with education, professional experience, entrepreneurial ability and practical skills that may not immediately be visible in their new community.

HER Opportunity helps women build:

  • Professional connections
  • Mentorship relationships
  • Business introductions
  • Employment connections
  • Customer referrals
  • Canadian professional networks
  • Skills visibility
  • Project opportunities
  • Entrepreneurship connections
  • Pathways toward Canadian experience

HER Brandon does not guarantee employment, customers or income. We create connections, visibility and pathways to opportunity.

HER Circles

Find Your People.

Small HER Circles help women meet around shared interests and experiences — so it feels less like attending an event and more like finding your table.

Belonging

Imagine having someone to call.

Someone to meet for coffee.

Someone who understands what it feels like to start again.

Someone who knows your industry.

Someone who tells you about an opportunity.

Someone who introduces you to someone else.

Someone who celebrates your first win.

Someone who simply asks: “Are you free this weekend?”

That’s belonging.

About

Why HER Brandon Was Created

HER Brandon began with a simple realization: you can arrive somewhere successfully and still feel alone.

Starting again can mean rebuilding both your economic life and your social world.

HER Brandon was created to help women new in Brandon make those two journeys together — finding people, finding opportunities and building a community around themselves.

Founder: Chioma Nwahiri

HER Brandon is currently a founder-led pilot community initiative in Brandon, Manitoba. It is not a government agency, immigration service, employment agency or registered charity.
